Carol Horigan Artist's Statement
My interest in photography developed indirectly from my earlier training in printmaking and painting. Initially, I employed a camera as a tool to conduct studies for paintings, experimenting with composition and design elements to interpret the world around me. Through the lens, I discovered a heightened sense of observation and selective focus, enabling me to compose and recompose scenes with greater creativity. Developing a photographer’s eye, I gained the ability to perceive abstractly, becoming more cognizant of colors, lines, shapes, textures, and light. In recent years, photography has emerged as the preeminent force in my artistic trajectory.
